About Us
Loni's Legacy, Inc. is a 501(c)3 charitable organization founded in West Virginia in 2022, and is 100% supported by volunteers and donor contributions.
The inspiration for our founding and mission was provided by the love and benevolence of Loni Marie Ferguson who helped a family friend on his recovery journey over a decade ago. To read more about this heartfelt story, please visit "Our Inspiration" page.
Our mission is to help others experience hope love and joy on their recovery journey by providing essential items, sober activities and mentorship while they are seeking recovery in an outpatient or inpatient environment.
Essential items include toiletries and personal care products that are not available to the resident at a non-profit inpatient rehab facility or to an individual in recovery on an outpatient basis. In certain situations, some rehab facilities or individuals in recovery do not have the resources for these essential items. We value the importance of those in recovery being able to take care of their personal hygiene needs such as brushing and flossing their teeth, cleansing their body and hair, shaving, having access to feminine care products, and other personal care items to enhance overall well being.
Sober activities include any reasonable activity approved by our organization to provide individuals or groups in recovery the opportunity for fun and entertainment without the involvement of addictive substances or behaviors. Sober, fun activities have proven to be instrumental for success in recovery. We recognize that these activities are not always available to individuals seeking recovery, and this is a key service in our mission.
Mentorship is a natural process that occurs as our volunteers deliver essential items and participate in sober activities with those we serve in the recovery community. We affectionately refer to these volunteers as "Our Loni's" due to their desire to bring hope, love and joy to others on their recovery journey.
Fulfilling our mission in the year of our founding was celebrated enthusiastically by our volunteers and donors. We completed our first year with our volunteers serving in-patient residents at Seed Sower, Inc., a non-profit inpatient rehab facility in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. We provided essential items, sober activities and mentorship as well as a visit from Santa with gifts for all the residents during the Christmas Season.
As Loni's Legacy, Inc. grows as an organization with the support of our donors and volunteers, we look forward to helping others in the recovery community across the country.
